Explore a selection of our projects or initiatives in several phases of development. These represent the diverse activities covered by the N.M. Abandoned Mine Land Program in the Mining and Minerals Division of the New Mexico Energy, Mineral and Natural Resources Department.
N.M. Abandoned Mine Land Program works to protect or safeguard the public from hazards of abandoned mines while conserving wildlife habitat, preserving mining history, reducing the legacy of environmental impacts, and reclaiming the landscape with additional community input. The Program uses Federal Government Grants to identify, safeguard, and reclaim pre-1977 abandoned mines.
